Virat Kohli has been the best player for India since his entry on to international cricket as he piled up runs against all the countries across all conditions and formats at ease. Virat Kohli was born on November 5, 1988 and is currently 28 years old as of 2017. He still got plenty of cricket left in him and more records are set to be broken in the coming years.

The talented Indian skipper was born to Prem Kohli (Father) and Saroj Kohli (Mother) in 1988. His father died on 18 December 2006 due to a brain stroke and Virat Kohli has insisted that his father was his biggest support in his life.

He is currently in relationship with Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma as the latter is expected to be Virat Kohli’s wife in the upcoming months as there has been talks over a wedding.


Having come from a middle class family, Virat Kohli has struggled a lot in his early life after he lost his father in 2006. They were forced to live in a rented house as their family businesses took huge losses.

The young Virat Kohli went on to play a Ranji game after losing his father and has since never looked back in his cricketing career. The Delhi batsman was soon selected as the captain of the U-19 World Cup squad and has led them to a successful triumph in 2008.

He then broke into senior squad in the same year and has become the great player that people admire today.

The 28-year old has scored a century in his debut World Cup match against Bangladesh in 2011 World Cup. He has since grown better as a player as he broke the records for the fastest 5000 ODI runs, 6000 ODI runs and 7000 ODI runs.

He has also managed an impressive 26 ODI centuries. His incredible form is not restricted to only ODI format as he is an excellent player across test and T20 formats as well. He averages a jaw dropping 50+ average in T20 Internationals while he has also managed to score four double hundreds in four consecutive series making him the first to achieve the feat in 140 year old Test history.


Virat Kohli has managed to win 2011 World Cup, a dream of every cricketer coming from a nation where the sport is considered a religion.

He has also managed to win Man of the tournament awards in 2014 T20 World Cup and 2016 T20 World Cup. His incredible run has also reflected in his records in Indian Premier League as he won Orange Cap in 2016 edition after piling up a staggering 973 runs which is a record that could stay for many years to come.


He was awarded the ICC ODI Cricketer of the Year in 2012. He was also part of the ODI World XI in 2012, 2014 and 2016.

He also won iconic Polly Umrigar Award (awarded for best international cricket of the year) in 2011-12, 2014-15, 2015-16 making him the only player to win it thrice.

Virat Kohli was also given Arjuna Award in 2013 while he was presented by Padma Shri (Fourth Highest Civilian award) in 2017 by Indian Government.


Virat Kohli’s house in Delhi is in Uttam Nagar, West Delhi. However, the Indian skipper have recently purchased an apartment in Worli, Mumbai which is estimated to be about Rs. 34 crore.
