India VS Pakistan matches are always a treat to watch. India and Pakistan didn’t really have a good 2007 as they both had crashed out the ODI World Cup in the group stages itself, thus inviting the ire of the fans and critics alike. Both the teams eyed redemption and they got the chance to redeem themselves as India and Pakistan entered finals of the T20 World Cup in South Africa much to the delight of the fans on both sides. The stage was set. Everyone expected a cracker of a match and they weren’t disappointed. India batted first and set up a total of 157 for the loss of 5 wickets. Gautam Gambhir top-scored for India with a gritty 75.

Batting second, Pakistan didn’t really get a start they wanted and were reduced to 26 for the loss of 2 wickets. Imran Nazir played a brief cameo but he soon perished after scoring 33. Soon after Shohaib Malik, Younus Khan and Shahid Afridi were back in the hut leaving Pakistan reeling at 77 for the loss of 6 wickets. Indians felt that they had won the game and celebrations started in India but one man changed it and took Pakistan to the brink of victory. His name was Misbah-ul-haq, then an unknown cricketer. He rallied the lower order and the total runs to win was reduced to 13 runs in the final over. Dhoni gave the ball to Joginder Sharma. He bowled the first ball wide and the target was reduced to 12 runs off 6 balls. Next ball was a dot and the target now was 12 runs from 5 balls. The next ball was placed in to the crowd by Misbah reducing the target to 6 runs. At this point of time, even the die-hard India fan would have given up but then Misbah went for the scoop shot, and found S Sreesanth standing at short fine leg. The match was over! India had won the match and the World Cup.
