Indian star all-rounders Yuvraj Singh and Suresh Raina are set to feature in DY Patil Tournament that begins on January 4. The local T20 tournament in Mumbai will have two of the biggest Indian cricketers participating in it for the first time which will light it up.
Suresh Raina is looking to make a statement to reclaim his lost position in the squad while Yuvraj Singh is also keen to earn his place back after an impressive Ranji season with Punjab team.
The tournament is held at the DY Patil Sports Academy in Nerul, Mumbai every year and will see about 16 teams participating in it. The T20 tourney is a 11-day affair which has a total of 31 matches with the final being played on January 15, 2016.
The teams that are participating in DY Patil Tournament are Reliance One, Tata Sports Club, Canara Bank, BPCL, CAG, Air India, Indian Oil, DY Patil A, DY Patil B, State Bank of Travancore, ONGC, Mumbai Customs, RBI, Western Railways and Jain Irrigation.
Both Suresh Raina and Yuvraj Singh are keen to make the most of the opportunity ahead of England ODI series as both of them are very much in the scheme of things to make a comeback after impressive performances off late.
Yuvraj Singh has last represented India in the T20 World Cup as he suffered an ankle injury against Australia which ruled him out for rest of the tournament. However, the southpaw made impressive contributions to Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL and have continued to impress with excellent knocks in the Ranji Trophy.
Meanwhile, Suresh Raina is more closer to the national team selection as he was selected to the ODI series against New Zealand but could not participate in the series after suffering viral fever. The duo will have to make the most out of the tournament if they want to stand a chance to win a place in the national squad again ahead of Champions Trophy next summer.
